2013 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet: Best Dressed in Colour
There were two colours that ruled the red carpet at last night's 2013 Golden Globe Awards. They were navy and red. That's it really. If you weren't in black or flesh-toned, you were in red or navy. The utter simplicity of this probably made the whole thing terminally dull at first glance, but the navy ladies actually stole the show. I mean would you ever take on Julianna Margulies in lace Emilio Pucci in a fash-off? No, me neither. She imbues it with such class. And Sally Field is just such a class act, isn't she? Her style is older, of course, but it is just so pretty and this colour is incredibly flattering on her, along with the softness of the silk chiffon drapery by Alberta Ferretti. And then there is the semi-terrorist's wife, Morena Baccarin. I have just come around to her in the last week or so. And here she is in pleated navy silk with black embellishments by Valentino. I die. This is SO CLASSY. LOVE.
And then there were the red dresses. Usually you would expect these to kick fashion ass, so to speak. But somehow the black and the navy dresses packed more punch than these identikit strapless — with sweetheart neckline — and full skirted gowns. Sure Jennifer Garner's Vivienne Westwood dress is a slightly darker shade, and Jennifer Lawrence popped a gold belt around her Dior Couture, and of course Zooey Deschanel channelled the 60s with the styling of her Oscar de la Renta. But you know. Same old. Nice. Of course. The ladies looked amazing. But, totes snooze-a-thon. Right?
