I'm not totally convinced by an embellished matching coat and dress on a young woman. It feels very mother-of-the-bride to me. But to be fair it was a bit chilly at the 2013 Palm Springs Film Festival Awards red carpet where Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong'o won the award for Breakthrough Performance.

For the red carpet event — with many more to come over the next few weeks — she wore Elie Saab, who is becoming a firm favourite. And once the coat was off, we stood and cheered. Very lovely. Just not the matching coat next time please, lady. Thanks.
