Taking place down the road from me today is the annual South African State of the Nation Address (SONA). And although I know what a few of our lady politicians will be wearing already, we will have to wait and see who hits and who misses. However, earlier this week was the American equivalent — the State of the Union address. And the FLOTUS Michelle Obama wore Jason Wu.

It was a modified version of a runway dress. The original was rather more strappy — and therefore inappropriate for the first lady. But a few super clever tweaks later and there you have a marvelous dress fit for the occasion.

Mr Wu must be delighted at his second high profile Mrs O outing in as many weeks. I am delighted as it is a lovely dress. Especially that leather piping at the neck and sleeve. So winners all round. Now we wait to see who the winners are from our local occasion. I've got to say I'm nervous...
