It's easy to forget that there was a big awards show on Saturday night as well. And not only did Lupita Nyong'o win her category at the 2104 Independent Spirit Awards, she also celebrated her 31st birthday AND wore the most awesome outfit on the entire red carpet — a gold brocade, zip-up shorts romper by Stella McCartney. I mean, would anyone else DARE??

Also looking good on the red carpet — and kicking off a stellar style week — was Kristen Bell in electric blue and black lace Reem Acra. I love this on her. Love it. Got that?

Ms Cate Blanchett was more controversial. This is Roksanda Illincic and I really like it. But I also get that it is a bit challenging for some that prefer things a bit more conventional and sleek. I think that it adds some cool dimension to the awards season.

And then there were two young stars in Preen. Aubrey Plaza from Parks and Recreation and Melonie Diaz from a bunch of TV shows both wore cute and arresting looks from Preen and I loved them both. Nicely done, people at Preen. I am guessing we will see a lot more from you now.
