Italian fashion brand Miu Miu had their annual screening of Women's Tales at the Venice Film Festival yesterday. Several leading ladies were in town for the oldest of all the film festivals, to celebrate with Miu Miu, the best dressed of which was hands-down Carey Mulligan in her interpretation of school-girl chic. And obviously I want this dress immediately.

Even though she wore sunglasses on the red carpet, they were on-brand and super cute, finishing this outfit off with signature Carey quirk. Saint Laurent shoes completed the picture.

I also liked Michelle Dockery from Downton Abbey at the event. First, she had the whole mod styling going on — perfect tunic style mini dress (I love) and a flawless bob. I have to say that I hate her tiny, tiny handbag. It's just silly. But the rest is great, don't you think? Those legs!

Freida Pinto and Gabrielle Union fared less well in Miu Miu. To be fair they are both more sophisticated dressers — Gabby tends toward figure-formed sexy dresses and this more flowing situation doesn't really work for her. Frieda just looks a bit unfinished. But still. Beautiful, smart, talented women all dressed well is like cat nip to me. All I wish is that I had been there to hang with them all.
