Shut the front door! Day 6 of the 2012 London Olympic Games showed us a brilliant new side to the lovely Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge — and her hubby Prince William. With two separate outings to Olympic events yesterday, Kate mixed things up. Starting with wearing sunglasses.

Can you recall another occasion we saw her in sunnies? No, me neither. And these are awesome. Kate was wearing them to the tennis where she was supporting TeamGB's Andy Murray.

She was also wearing that Stella McCartney dress she wore last week, paired with her Smythe navy jacket.

Later she joined both Princes William and Harry at the cycling. She wore the TeamGB official kit with her J Brand skinny jeans. And a ponytail. You know how much I love it when she wears her hair in a ponytail. My best.

I remember when I attended the cycling events at the 2004 Athens Games. I thought ho-hum. Until the whole shebang started and it was the most thrilling sporting event I have EVER attended. And that's the way it looked for Kate and Wills yesterday.

Up to and including when the two of them hugged each other in joy when their man Chris Hoy won the event. Brand spanking new this one — have you ever seen them hug each other in public?? Just a total delight, and totally in the spirit of the Olympics and a modern royal couple.
