Lady Mary of Downton In Harpers Bazaar, September 2012
There is something about the girls of Downton Abbey that makes them ideal magazine fodder. Maybe it is about the transformation from 1920s style to modern. Maybe it is that they bring acting to their fashion stories. Whatever it is, it works. And this latest one featuring Michelle Dockery, who plays Lady Mary Crawley, is as good as any of them.
Featuring garments by Tom Ford, Alberta Ferretti and Ralph Lauren, the story was shot by photographer Benjamin A. Huseby for the September issue of UK Harpers Bazaar.
Inside the story is amusing and filled with anecdotal evidence that Michelle is only a little bit like the character she plays in the hit TV series.
Aside from being born in Essex, Michelle is also very down to earth and funny, apparently good with taking the mickey out of her American compadres. However, she does appear to be as beautifully mannered and upright as Lady Mary. Get the full story when Harpers lands on our shelves soon.
