Victoria Beckham at New York Fashion Week 2012

First of all, I loved the shoes. At Victoria Beckham's New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2013 show, almost all the shoes were flats. They were by Manolo Blahnik. They were black and (off) white. And they were largely flat. Did I mention that? So totally unexpected. Of course there were some heels in there. It wouldn't be VB without them. But no giddy platforms. Just pretty heels. In amongst all the flats.

Secondly, I loved how overwhelmed VB was by the positive reception for her show. She laughed. Yes she did. She cried. And her people were there to capture the moment she came off stage in tears.
Her outfit was shorter and frillier than we have come to expect. And it was adorable. Taking some influence from Alaia, it seems. Azzedine Alaia was the first to dress VB when she found fashion, coming just after her dramatic hair crop and before the move to the US. I like that she has found inspiration from an African designer.
Thirdly there was proud-as-punch David Beckham in support. Together with the utterly scrumptious baby Harper. Who had tried out the ramp earlier in the day. How can one not love that combo?
Finally there were the clothes. Sporty. Flirty. Sleek, of course. More punched up in trend. Black and white and tangerine. Much shorter than before. And brilliant. You just can't fault this fresh new direction. I am so pleased for my mate Vicky.
