A good fashion magazine cover is always a triumph worth celebrating. As I head off to Johannesburg today to celebrate five full days of African fashion, I wanted to take the time to share all these amazing images of our very own supermodel, Candice Swanepoel.

Candice is covering the December 13 issue of UK ELLE magazine. And she was chosen to do so as she will be the Angel wearing the fantasy bra at this year's Victoria Secret show — an honour saved for the most popular Angel. So we can be amazingly proud of our home-grown girl.

The inside story is slightly bleat-y. Candice reveals the terrible homesickness and loneliness she experienced as a young model living in Europe, and the alienations she felt when she called home to speak to friends: 'You try and keep the same relationships, but so much happened to me, so many adult things — it's impossible to have the same conversation. Your mind has changed so much.' So that's not brilliant. Either for her, or to moan about it under the circumstances. And age-old story. Cliched, really. I prefer Candice how she is on her social media — upbeat, grateful, fun, devoted to her friends and family. I think this is closer to the real story.

The photos are all about an alternative style to a night out. Gone are the bandage dresses and heels, in are the pyjama pants. leather jackets and sneakers. I prefer this.
