Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, in Navy Jenny Packham Gown
Without missing a beat, Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, is back to work. Last night she was out, attending a charity ball at Kensington Palace, hosted by the 100 Women in Hedge Funds, in aid of the charity Action on Addiction. And for the occasion she wore a gorgeous navy gown by her other favourite British designer, Jenny Packham.
I was grumbling yesterday about same-old in her style. And yes, this is the same designer. But it is not the same old style. This is hot off the runway — and it is a bit darker and more grown up than her usual selections in pastel spangle.
Navy is such an elegant colour. And the mesh overlay and black velvet belt detail just enhance the sophistication. It took Diana years to manage this level of sartorial ease for her solo evening engagements. I totally respect that Kate has managed it this soon. Aided, of course, by a close selection of brilliant designers.
Obviously I wish, wish, wish her hair had been dealt with better. I can't with this tonged curls anymore. Anyone else feel my pain?
