Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, Wears Green Alexander McQueen
Landov
Despite being rather poorly as a complication of her pregnancy, Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, attended the British Sports Awards on the weekend, to present a few prizes. And she looked wonderfully elegant in forrest green Alexander McQueen in a style favoured by the Duchess.
It seems that Kate likes this silhouette a great deal — her Beulah dresses have been very similar. Also, the neckline, into a raised waistline is reminiscent of her Issa dresses. As she keeps returning to these familiar styles, it is comforting to know that there really is some quite distinct method to her wardrobe.
The slit of the dress was where the risky element came in. I loved that it was pretty daringly high. It suited her age and the designer to be a bit cheeky like that. And considering how incredibly simple and elegant the dress was, it needed this bit of panache.
As usual, of course, I wish her hair was back rather than flopping about her shoulders like curly cocker spaniel ears. A lovely, loose up-do would have been perfect for the occasion, I feel.
The lady she is chatting to in the photos is the British gold medal winner for the heptathlon, Jessica Ennis. This rather successful sporting champion is known for her love of fashion and chose to wear my mate Victoria Beckham's design to the awards show. She looked amazing. Well done.
