This week has seen two major stars wearing South African-born designer Catherine Deane. With an incredible pedigree of dressing A-listers for the red carpet — and Pippa Middleton a couple of times — she dressed Evangeline Lilly for the premier of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug this week, when it was held in Hollywood.

The dress was very beautiful and pretty well chosen for the fantasy theme of the evening. Of course I objected to the gigantic fringe on Evangeline, but there was nothing to complain about with the dress, which was immaculate and very, very beautiful.

And then, in maybe a more functional look, was Amy Poehler. I love Amy Poehler. I worship at the alter of Parks and Recreation. But the lady doesn't always dress in the most flattering of frocks. But this one is pretty good. Flattering and sharp. Maybe a tad short for her proportions, but very well fitted. Well done Catherine Deane. Keep it up.
