2013 Golden Globes After Party Style
Many of the stars of the 2013 Golden Globes stayed in their red carpet gowns to attend the after parties. Some changed into new gowns — and many more stars joined them just for the 'jol' as we like to say here in South Africa. And so a quick peek at the best of these outfits wouldn't go amiss. To my mind the best of them were this trio of young starlets from the Disney Channel. Which is a surprise as I usually don't approve. Vanessa Hudgens forewent her usual hot mess to wear this stunning Jenny Packham glittery sheath with gold embellished shoulders. Selena Gomez wore her breakup well in gold Versace and Ashley Tisdale was sleek and sophisticated in her sexy Issa drape with side cutouts. All those workouts in the gym paid off here. Just stunning, all three.
Also for me, Jaime King in her Emilio Pucci embroidered sheath was unbelievably elegant — and you know how well disposed I am to an evening tuxedo like the one Liberty Ross wore. And while black and white are ruling the day, how about yet another sensational donning of the new Louis Vuitton SS13 collection, as worn here by Jessica Alba. Cute as a button.
The main colour pop of the night came from the new black — HOT PINK. Three young actresses wore it, starting with my favourite favourite, Odette Annable in Rachel Roy with the lime yellow accents. Sizzling. Also Nikki Reed in her Jenny Kaye was incredibly pretty. Jena Malone (star of Donnie Darko, Into the Wild and the next Hunger Games) was also in the colour — hers was a peek-a-boo dress by Cushnie et Ochs. Fabulous colour for maximum stand-out and so flattering too.
Then there was the obligatory blush, as I am calling it with reference to these ladies. I actually adored Felicity Jones in her Miu Miu dress. Against all my better judgements. Looking pale is her THING, so I forgive — especially when you see the details like that waist brooch and the silver 20s-style shoes. It's just amazingly pretty. Kate Beckinsale in Gucci is also fine. I could live without that weird neck thing, and the pose, but aside from that I actually think that she looks lovely. Then again, she could probably wear a hessian sack and look beautiful. Oh and Sophia Bush, I love you. I don't love your bangs anymore. Nor do I love your overly-flouncy sleeves of your Lisa Ho dress. But I do love you. Bye.
