2014 Critics Choice Awards Red Carpet: Could Do Better
I actually think that Meryl Streep looks wonderful in her Stella McCartney tunic dress of navy blue at the 2014 Critics Choice Awards last night. But she had SUNGLASSES on. Seriously. Did she have somewhere better to be? Probably actually, but bad manners are always in poor style and I think that if you are going to dress up and show up, then take off your sunnies and hand them to an assistant.
Meryl and Julia Roberts hung out as they always do. Julia wore Juan Carlos Obando black and white, which was fine. Better than a shirt under a dress. But also didn't remove her sunglasses. Which were quite ugly to start with. So. No.
My darling, favourite, magnificent Emma Thompson looked pretty much a mess. I can see that the little red Alexander McQueen dress was really quite lovely. But that swampy Anne Verdi floral coat did it no favours and spoiled the look for me. Again, no. Disappointed.
And then Abigail Breslin wore vintage Badgley Mishka. Little Miss Sunshine is still trying to find her style. It must be hard in Hollywood when you are milk-maid-pretty and young — not into all those mini bandage dresses and platforms like others her age. But not this. This was not the only other alternative. I didn't like it on her at all. Soz 'n chips.
