Naturally you expect to see Cate Blanchett on every best dressed list this awards season. And the 2014 Critics Choice Awards red carpet was no different. The deep green Lanvin dress was different, for sure. But Cate makes everything she wears work, and a simply trapeze t-shirt maxi dress is rendered red carpet worthy by her brilliant style, carriage and skin tone. Also pockets. Just stunning.

But also looking stunning in a very similar shade, was Oprah. Mama O wore a deep green knit dress, belted in at the waist with a bow, and showing off her impressive décolletage. No one can tell me who did the dress yet. But who cares, it's brilliant. Best I think I have ever seen her.

And then there was Jessica Chastain, in a very different shade of green. I have her on the best dressed list only because her stunning hair and the colour of the Nina Ricci dress go so well together. And that the dress is, in theory, lovely. But on her body it goes a bit wonky in the waist to thigh region. Maybe it needed a half an inch extra at the hips? But pretty, pretty girl, isn't she?
