Colour blocking has taken a new turn. Well it certainly did last night on the 2014 People's Choice Awards red carpet. From bold, bright colours in bands on a dress, it has morphed into monochrome in bands on a dress, as worn by three different actresses.

I think that Sarah Michelle Geller from The Crazy Ones did it most conservatively in her Sachin + Babi princess length dress with the gold halter detail. She looks great — back to her best — and we can almost forgive her some recent style mistakes. Beth Behrs from 2 Broke Girls was the most successful with this new trend. Her Giuletta dress was elegant and modern and very cool on her.

My new 'one to watch' from Glee, Naya Rivera, got her hair did for the occasion. Very light, very blown out. Not sure about that. But I do think that her dress — Michael Kors, of course — suited her very well and she looked fabulous. I don't like the individual parts of this whole vibe but she pulled it together brilliantly. Well played.
