Beyonce, Alicia, Katy and Eva All Looking Great at 2013 US Presidential Inauguration
With every big occasion, they comes a slew of celebrities who are there to participate, enjoy or self-promote. Whatever. They dress up well so I like it. I particularly liked Katy Perry, if you can believe it at the 2013 US Presidential Inauguration. She turned up in an AWESOME Rodarte knitted coat and silk chiffon dress underneath. She paired it effortlessly with a fedora and brought the fun with a tiny copy of Aretha Franklin's bow hat from the last inauguration. Oh, and she dragged along her boyfriend John Mayer, if you like that kind of thing ;)
Beyonce made a gangster-style entrance in her Dior fur coat and Jay-Z on her arm. What a couple! They really stand for something, these two. And success is very definitely a part of it. Jay-Z is wearing Tom Ford just to hammer that one home.
Beyonce performed without the coat, and revealed her sweeping Emilio Pucci gown. Um. Ok. It is amazing. She looks amazing. She sounded amazing. But. I'm not entirely sure we needed to go full-floor-sweeper for the occasion, you know? Everyone else was in coats, is all I am saying.
But those earrings. Oh those earrings. Lorraine Schwartz designed these 80 carat emerald earrings, which I could just die for. They are magnificent and make the entire look. Phenomenal. Gimme.
And if we must discuss something like a phenomenon, I give you Alicia Keys. She performed at the ball in the evening and wore bold red diamante sprinkled Michael Kors for the occasion.
This incredible dress was perfect for the occasion, with an open back to add interest while she was seated at the piano, and diamonds at the ears and wrist. Beautiful.
And then there was Eva Longoria who also piqued my fashion interested. Let me tell you why. It's easy. Three words. Blush leather coat. Ye gads! This is a goodie. That is what I would want to wear if I was in sub-zero temperatures for a big occasion. Slam dunk. Nicely played.
