2013 BAFTA Red Carpet Best Dressed (in Colour)
Despite a day's delay due to the Grammy Awards, the 2013 BAFTA Awards are hitting up this screen today, filled with reasons to chat. First of all let me just say that 80% of the dresses were black, at least in part. And so the best of the rest really has to be the departure point, because not only are these looks stunning, they are also refreshing. Although it was snowing on the red carpet, so maybe there is a reason that there was limited 'refreshment'. But nothing could take away from this dazzling yellow Dior couture gown that Marion Cotillard wore.
It was fashion-edgy. It was a statement piece. It was bold. and it was good. Love the hair and make-up, hate the fusty diamond necklace. The whole look would have been perfect if it wasn't for that predictable piece. I think, anyway.
And really Jessica Chastain gives this look a run for its money. The electric blue of the Roland Mouret gown was equally stunning.
Slightly safer, in execution, but more high-contrast in its loveliness when combined with Jess' natural ginger colouring. Bonus points always for that. (PS: see the snow in her hair. THAT's how cold it was)
And then there is the sweetest blush of the Dior worn by Jennifer Lawrence. I think that the easy simplicity of this gown and the combed back hair make this a great look for J-Law. She really does her best when things are kept simple and this is pitched perfectly. Beautiful.
