2012 Costume Institute Gala: The After Party Outfits

After the incredibly exciting red carpet of the Costume Institute Gala, the celebs and models and their respective designers and hosts went into the Metropolitan Museum for the actual exhibition. Despite what we may think, that was the actual point. I image they had some kind of dinner and I know that Bruno Mars performed and everyone loved it with most of the models up near the stage having a dance. And then... Well, then I believe the real party began. The After Parties.
Many of the stars of the red carpet stayed in their original looks for this part of the evening. But many actually did change into frocks a bit more comfortable for a night out on the razzle. In some instances this was blessed relief. Yes, I am looking at you lovely Jaime King. I adore that girl. She is just the business in Heart of Dixie. But her TopShop dress for the ball was something of a disaster. The cute blue sequin number was MUCH better. Yay.
Ladies like Diane Kruger and Karolina Kurkova looked bloody lovely in both their dress up looks and their dress-down vibes. It's almost unfair. But January Jones' rather severe black after party dress didn't live up to the sunshine of her Versace ball gown.
And Emma Roberts should just be ashamed in her jeans for an after party. No lady. Keep some degree of dignity as you move into the night!
One dress that I didn't get a chance to speak about yesterday, was the incredible white custom Donna Karan that Ashley Greene wore. I think that she looked amazing. And her cute after party dress wasn't too bad either. Good night out for this Twilight lady.
And then just to round things up, poor old Emma Stone had a bit of a wardrobe malfunction in her cute red Lanvin and had to pop a rather lovely red leather coat on over it for the after parties to hide the rip in the back. Shame man! Still wouldn't mind that coat in my wardrobe, to be honest...
