For my money, there were some surprises on the Cannes 2012 red carpet. And while we will always love almost everything that Diane Kruger wears, is there always universal praise for the girls like Kylie, Kristen and Camila? No, sadly not. But there is magic in Cannes. And this brings out the best in some of the ladies on the red carpet. Starting with Kylie Minogue, perfectly dressed in a Roberto Cavalli powder blue gown that she accessorised only with a Chopard diamond necklace and her megawatt smile. Is this maybe the best she has ever looked? Entirely possible.

And what about Camila Alves, the baby mama of Matthew McConaughey. They live for exercising and beach and we almost never see her going full-tilt on the red carpet. But it is brilliant when she does. Like in this Marchesa. I mean this is a show stopper, right?

And that dusty pink Prada gown that dear Milla Jovovich wore...only the best Prada dress we have seen in months. It has been a bit of a disaster recently for the Prada red carpet appearances, and this one manages to lift the standard back up. So very pretty. Well played ladies.
