Cannes 2012 Red Carpet: Opening Ceremony
The opening ceremony of Cannes Film Festival 2012 heralds a fresh new upsurge in brilliant dresses on the red carpet. For me, Cannes is the start of the season. The start of the year, where summer trends are defined and a whole new raft of people become fascinated with red carpet fashion. I love it. Probably more than most red carpets. And this year Diane Kruger, style icon and stealer of Pacey Witter, is a judge which means a slew of pictures of her in stunning dresses. She, together with Eva Longoria and Jessica Chastain were the big-star stunners at the opening ceremony yesterday. Diane wore Giambattista Valli, Eva was in Marchesa and Jessica was in plunging Alexander McQueen — with pockets. Amazing.
Also looking good at the opening ceremony was Lana del Rey in beautiful black Alberta Ferretti, Freida Pinto in a fiesta from Michael Angel and Berenice Bejo in red Louis Vuitton. This is the best she has ever looked in my opinion. Stunning.
And then there were the ladies that really shone. Can you believe that Jane Fonda (in slightly altered Atelier Versace) is in her 70s!? Utterly sublime rose gold goddess. Obviously Tilda Swinton's Haider Ackermann has no peer. I actually feel like weeping when I see her looking so bizarrely beautiful. And of course supermodels like Eva Herzigova are always going to look incredible in Dolce & Gabbana.
What a fabulous start to the next two weeks of film, fashion and fun on the red carpet! I can't wait to see how it all plays out and who amazes us as we go along. Stay locked into StyleGuideCT for the ride of your life, everyday, all the best of the fashions. Strap in.
