Princess Charlene and Kate Middleton Meet In a Clash of Pastel
I am not sure why everyone has been waiting for this moment — the one in which onse Princess Charlene of Monaco and Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, meet up. I guess they are similar in age, wedding dates, social status and interest in fashion (pretending none, but watched for everything they wear). And so it seems to make sense. For the record, they seemed to get along just fine. It must have been nice to hang out with some royalty your own age. And they both chose to wear safe, conservative pastels to the event at Windsor. Nice. On trend. I think that Kate came out ahead though.
Kate wore soft pink Emilia Wickstead pleated button-up dress with a pair of satin covered shoes we have not seen before — and a delightful brooch that I would have liked to have seen more of. It was pretty, but that damn tumbling brunette curl was always in the way. Bloody Middleton hair. So perfect.
Charlene wore a soft blue satin suit with an interesting collar and matching court shoes. There was nothing wrong with this. But it wasn't quite as young and pretty as Kate's number.
That evening onse Charlene attended the dinner in an altogether more beautiful gown. Akris, I imagine. There's that perfect pastel pink for a princess that Kate had worn earlier working for Charlene. And cute kiss curls in the new cropped hair do too. Beautifully played.
