Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, Olympic Style

It has been quite frustrating, being in the next street, the next postcode, the next Olympic venue to Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, and being on holiday — in other words 'not allowed near my computer'. So I have been saving up all the looks she has worn to the 2012 London Olympic Games so we can reflect on them all in one go. It started of course with the casual outfit she donned for the Olympic torch relay. A pair of bright blue Zara (super) skinny jeans and a Stella McCartney uniform polo tee from the BOA Olympic kit bag. And those dastardly wedges. Seriously. I thought, oh no, this is not a good start.

But she redeemed herself the next day as she headed out to review an Olympic venue as she wore one of my fave looks of all, a sweet silver printed dress from high street retailer, Hobbs. Belted, of course, with one of her own wardrobe belts, and paired with a pair of quite cool suede heels.
Then there was the opening ceremony. And boy did Kate surprise us with edgy British designer Christopher Kane, who custom made this icy blue dress coat for her. A bit tame for him, but the razor sharp seaming gives it away — this is no ordinary dress coat.

Kate has attended the equestrian events twice in the past week. In support of her cousin-in-law Zara Philips mostly. And for both of these occasions she has sported her favourite J Brand dark denim jeans and her navy Smythe jacket. Grrrr. And those WEDGES. Yuck.

She did manage to swap out the top though, and I really like the striped tank she wore on the second occasion. When she removed the jacket she revealed super-toned upper arms, just FYI.

And then Kate, in her official capacity as Duchess of Cambridge, hosted a Creative Industries Reception (while Wills and Harry were off supporting the gymnastics), where she wore that stunning draped barely-lilac dress by Roksanda Illincic that she first wore last year in the States. And she wore her hair up. Makes me happy folks. So happy. Welcome home to me! Yippee!
