My mate Victoria Beckham showed her SS14 collection at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week New York yesterday. And between sending men's shorts (thusly described in the official running order) and flippy skirts and geometric prints down the runway for summer next year, she popped out wearing gauchos.

I only mention this because gaucho pants are the hardest item of clothing, in the entire history of the world, to wear and look good in. They are about as unflattering an item as was ever invented. And yet my mate VB looked pretty good in them. Can it be possible?

To be fair, as much as we were celebrating the androgyny and evolution of Vicky's designs — excellent on all fronts — we were actually more mesmerised by the dad-n-daughter show going on in the front row. Harper happily chatted to Anna Wintour as she sat on David Beckham's lap waiting for the show to start. This little charmer is without question the happiest creature in fashion. She put a smile on Anna's face. You don't get better than that.
