2012 Elle Women in Hollywood Red Carpet: Best Dressed
When there isn't an awards show in sight and premiers are thin on the ground, it is always nice to have a full-on red carpet event like the Elle celebration of Women in Hollywood to look at. I mean this seemed to be the biggest gathering of A-listers since the Emmys and I for one really appreciated it. And so let's have a look at those that got the dress code spot-on. We can begin with someone who played it safe — wearing sponsor Calvin Klein — and yet pushed the boat out. Kristen Wiig in a beautiful bold colour. After so many nude and beige numbers playing down her natural beauty, here is a CK dress that gives full show to it. Simple, clean and beautiful — with a pop of pink on the nail. Loves it.
Also in Calvin Klein was Sarah Jessica Parker. I don't always love what she wears, but this grey hard/soft dress is stunning. Combining a beautiful diaphanous silk skirt with a metal-trimmed bodice is brilliant. Well played.
Also in Calvin Klein was the newest member of my fantasy fashion book club, Rashida Jones. Stunning accessories. Stunning shoes. Bloody good girl.
Viola Davis was in white — which always looks good with her rich colouring — but this wasn't Calvin Klein, it was Raoul. But the sentiment was right on.
My favourite of the non-CKs was Emma Stone (of course) in bright pink Valentino Resort. With that collar. And the bangs. Could this BE any cuter?? Oh, it can. The houndstooth check shoes. Which I assume are Salvatore Ferregamo. Finished. Love.
And finally, the queen, the doyenne of getting red carpet right, is Cate Blanchett. In Proenza Schouler. Looking amazing of course. She wins. Everything. Done. What do you think?
