As usual the divine Ms Cate Blanchett looks extraordinary in her pale lace Armani Privé dress, from the 51st New York Film Festival Tribute Gala function last night.

Her height allows her to carry this tricky — but very beautiful — length. And the lip colour assist in lifting the extreme paleness of her skin and dress. She has really turned wearing pale into an art and we can all learn from her, as pale becomes the next big party trend.

Of course no matter how much I love her in this dress, I am always going to love this look even more. A plain black shift with a white Peter Pan collar is like style catnip to me. What? I grew up admiring Wednesday Adams, so what do you expect?
