Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, in Alexander McQueen for Christening of Prince George
As with other big occasions, Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, turned to Sarah Burton to designer her Alexander McQueen dress for the christening of her son, Prince George yesterday. The dress was based on an existing runway look and tailored in the exact same colour as the christening gown. Which was a yellowish cream.
There was the bodice ruffle and peplum detail to give her slim frame some shape. The a-line of the skirt did the same job. The hat was by Jane Taylor, as usual, and the shoes were LK Bennett, of course.
Pippa Middleton also wore cream, dressed as she was in Suzannah, with a pale pink trim. It was a very nice look, to be fair, although I really didn't love the floral arrangement on her head.
All the ladies seemed to be informed of a dress code, as alongside Kate and Pippa, the Duchess of Cornwall also wore cream, and HRH The Queen, Carole Middleton and others wore shades of blue.
Zara Tindall looked particularly elegant in navy blue, with her own pregnancy in full bloom, she was the only member of the royal family to crack a godmother nod. I like her. I'm glad she was the one. And this look is excellent on her.
What did you think of the christening outfit? Special and pretty or back to the same old routine that Kate followed before her pregnancy? I feel it all seems a bit samey. I wanted something really fresh and this is nice, but very tried-and-tested. Oh well.
