Marion Cotillard for Lady Dior 2014
This new campaign for Lady Dior handbags feels so much more like the new artistic director of Dior, Raf Simons. The bold colour and splash of artistic flair is very much more modern than the elegant ladylike simplicity of the previous campaigns. This one really feels contemporary as opposed to timeless. Interesting departure.
Interesting too that one of my favourite photographers, Tim Walker, was chosen to shoot the campaign. Tim Walker is known for his sweeping romance and whimsical set-up style. He is hardly the go-to guy for stripped back, artistic, urban decay. But this switch up seems to work. The handbag is beautiful. The story is clear. The lady, magnificent.
The lady is of course Marion Cotillard. She is the long-time face of Lady Dior bags — since 2008. And religious wearer of Dior on almost all her red carpets. She shows up strong for this campaign. Good girl. I like it. Do you?
