Another key trend on last night's 2013 American Music Awards red carpet was the black on gold combination. Look, it's all a bit confusing because black and gold is exactly the trend that we should be seeing for fall 2013, but celebs usually wear the trends a season before so it is nice to see that the trend is holding fast. It means that we can properly invest in it here as it will stick around for a while. And Jordin Sparks really brings it in this studded and draped beauty by Jovani Couture.

Also looking pretty spectacular was Naya Rivera in Michael Kors. The back was completely open as well. And by 'as well' obviously I mean as well as the entire frontage. But frankly that really is part of her thing, and certainly contributes to the spectacular-ness of it all.

And the delight that is Alicia Silverstone was also in black and gold — hers a sassy little shift by Nicole Miller that looked just the right combo of dressy and casual. Frankly this is the one I would wear. Although I may have made my shoes a smidge more interesting. Just saying. What do you think?
