Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, vs The Wind
Having a bit of a Marilyn moment yesterday in the wind, Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, really didn't seem bothered. Well, who would be when a gust of wind reveals your exercise-honed limbs that look as good as this? Seriously. And frankly, I love that Orla Kiely navy pleated skirt so much I would be happy to reveal even my old lady legs just to have it. I adore a pleated skirt.
Kate was at the Place2Be charity day yesterday at Canary Wharf in London, and teamed her lovely, lovely skirt with a snug, tailored jacket from Max Mara. Nice and neat.
So what I like about this look is that it is fresh and younger than usual. I always like it when Kate wears a hem line above her knees to lower the age of her looks. She has great legs — which we have now seen just about all of — so why not keep things a bit more fun and frivolous?
What I absolutely despise about this look is the sheer pantyhose. No man. I thought we had moved on from these shiny leg coverings. At least they are navy and not tan. But still. A pair of opaques would have been much better — especially considering the wind factor. Right?
And of course as soon as I saw the photos I did a little jig of joy at the variation in the hair do. It's not a pony tail (which really would have been the best option in the wind) but it was half up, and that's progress. Thankfully. Merci madame.
