Marion Cotillard Covers W Magazine, December 2012
Blimey, this cover is RED. Like, totally red. And features my favourite piece from the Dior collection by Raf Simons — that coat with a metallic belt. I like what they have done to Marion Cotillard, the cover star here for the December issue of W Magazine. They have placed her in front of a stocking mesh screen and got people to manipulate the mesh from behind so that it looks like she has a TINY waist and is being seduced by this alien force. I always like an alien force in my fashion stories. I just need to be this clever in future...
Do you like the redness and slightly fantastical storyline? The couture they are using in the story certainly lends it a fairy tale quality, like this Iris van Herpen dress over a Dolce & Gabbana bodysuit. All the latex gloves and stockings in this story are by Atsuko Kudo.
Even when they get away from the mesh backdrop, the fantasy seducers remain, all dressed up in toy soldier style. Marion is dressed in a Lanvin coat here. And Gucci heels.
The photographer of this blood red fiction is the great Tim Walker.  And the gown in this image is of course Valentino. Like you needed to be told.
This entire look is by Jean Paul Gaultier as a combination of his pieces for La Perla lingerie and his own line Gaultier Paris.
And both the body and the jewellery here are by Chanel. Haute couture meets science fiction meets Marion Cotillard meets W magazine. Brilliantly combined. Great work. Even better hair. Done.
