MIchelle Obama Gets Four More Years of Style Leadership
Let me say this. It was important to me who won the Presidential election in the US. Mostly because I believe that the largest western economy and biggest military in the world impacts absolutely every aspect of our lives, even here in Africa. Also because I believe passionately in social justice and the rights of women as equals — and only Obama could offer that. And finally (and secretly) because I couldn't live with discussing the style of Mrs Romney when all I wanted was the fun, the excitement and the finesse of Michelle Obama's style. She has done so much for growing the American fashion industry, changing how women are expected to dress in power and democratizing and developing fashion. So imagine my joy that she is back. For four more years. Yay!
Michelle has recently embraced floral tea dresses which I totally love and think suit her. Also they take some cues from Taylor Swift's style. Young, relevant, flattering, good. The one on the right is by Jones New York. I like a lot.
Mrs O has also been wearing the hell out of Michael Kors over the past couple of months. Both the hot pink suit and the black evening gown being perfectly suited to her signature style.
I am sure that MO will wear far more Jason Wu like this over the next four years. I am sure she will introduce us to some new designers who we will grow to love. Some of them may even be from Africa — like Duro Oluwu and Mimi Plange. Rock on Mrs O. You are doing your thing for us too.
