The idea of this is awesome. A tuxedo bib dress with that tipped collar, paired with a jacket and gladiator heels. All Givenchy from top to toe. And on Julia Roberts no less. And so it should have played perfectly. Especially for the auspicious LA premier of multiple-nominated movie August: Osage County.

And yet somehow it has not quite come off. The jacket is too big and boxy. Oversized is all good and well when what is underneath is sleek. But this is just lumpy. And the scooped hem may also be slightly problematic — at some points the hem is the right length and at others, it isn't.

Aside from these niggles, Julia Roberts is just beautiful. And that collar is brilliant. So we take away a partial win in this look. No?
