Rooney Mara is one of those polarising celebrities with her style. You either love it or just can't for the life of you understand what keeps us coming back for more. Well, here is exhibit A. I don't know that anyone else could have done this Lanvin dress with such sharpness and severity.

And it needed to be severe. It's the only way that an elaborate design like this can work. The entire dress is created to showcase the balance of hard and soft, sculptural and organic, proportion and disproportion. There are very few who could carry it off like Rooney Mara can.

And then there is the lip colour and the scraped back hair. Like we haven't seen this a hundred times before. And yet it works perfectly. I am totally enamoured with this look. One of the best of the week, no diggity, no doubt.
