For me it was a seriously tough call as to who was best dressed overall on the 2014 BAFTAs red carpet, between Lupita Nyong'o and the incredible Amy Adams, dressed in Victoria Beckham.

This sheath of a black dress had the signature zip up the back and the glorious fit you get with a VB gown. It also had my very favourite, a peter pan collar, and a cool sheer detail on the neck.

I also particularly loved the hair and make-up, which was severe, quite 'fashion' but worked spectacularly with this elegant and super-modern dress. My how far she has come from her princess story of last year's red carpets when Elie Saab was the answer to every question.

Also looking utterly breathtaking in black was Uma Thurman, who wore Atelier Versace. Also a column dress, this one had a strapless neckline.

Uma arrived in a little bolero jacket and then slipped this off to reveal the full power of the gown. I am not a fan of either strapless nor bolero jackets, but somehow, when it comes to the goddess of Uma, you can't help but admire the beauty and the perfect, perfect fit.
