Kenyan breakout actress and style star of the season, Lupita Nyong'o, was in New York this week. In the build up to the Oscars in just over a week, she is in massive demand. Lupita attended a magazine cover party — for her own cover of DuJour Magazine — first up.

For the occasion she wore a completely delightful Peter Pilotto print dress in shades of green. I happen to think that this looks sensational on her. As much as I love the solid blocks of colour for the red carpet, I think she dazzles in print at the cocktail functions.

Having said that, Lupita tried out an edgier look for her appearance on David Letterman on the same day. The tough leather corset dress by J. Mendel fit like a glove. Bit for me, who has a real problem with her shoes choices in general, was utterly mesmerised by the Christian Louboutin spike t-bar shoes. THIS is what she should be wearing more often. Chuck the pointed courts, Lupita, you have found your shoe. Brava.
