After all the paleness at last night's 2014 Oscars arrivals, it was an absolute joy to see ket players wearing my personal favourite red carpet colour — navy. I mean you simply can't beat navy for elegance, sophistication and understated style. And so it was with Sandra Bullock's magnificent, draped Alexander McQueen dress. I love this so much I could actually weep. She is simply incredible in it. Don't you think?

Also wearing navy so beautifully was Amy Adams. She was in Gucci and apparently made the choice to wear this entirely by herself. No bossy stylish here. And it works. She looks like Amy Adams — but the sleek, cool, 2014 version of her. I love it. Brilliant.

And then — just because she has had an incredible awards season and I really must show you all her amazing dresses — I must mention best actor nominee, Chiwetel Ejiofor's girlfriend, Sari Mercer. She also wore navy and of course I loved it. Beautiful ladies, all.
