2014 Oscars Red Carpet Best Dressed: Well Not Really
Look, I know this is going to be controversial. But I did not like the Dior dress that Jennifer Lawrence wore to last night's 2014 Oscars. She, herself, was beautiful. Just utterly luminant. As was that necklace. But the dress was just meh. On trend. Well fitted. But, to my mind dull and a bit dowdy for the Oscars. Yes, I realise I called a bright orange-red dress dowdy, but I call it like I see it.
And as for Viola Davis' emerald green Escada dress, well, she loved it. But it is shiny and does something weird over her belly so I don't love it for her. She is SO MUCH BETTER THAN THIS DRESS! Don't you think?
I feel the same way about Liza Minnelli. Although with her, of course, she can wear whatever she likes. But it is shiny in a way that doesn't necessarily show the legend off to her best. It is vintage Halston, which I think is super cool. And that matching hair colour is so cute. But no. Liza deserves a better Oscars look, as far as I am concerned.
And then there was Alfre Woodward. She was also in Escada. There was something about this designer that just wasn't working for the Oscars. I mean the flats are all her own fault. That was a big mistake. But the colour is sensational and the woman — with THAT BODY — is even more so. I just feel the proportions were so off that it failed to work.
