Ewa Sonnet Love

Jennifer Lawrence for US Vogue, September 2013
Who doesn't love Jennifer Lawrence? She is amazing. She is funny and smart and talented and beautiful. How can you not love her? Even pernickety old Anna Wintour loves J-Law. She told us so by popping her on the cover of the all-important September issue of US Vogue 2013. BOOM. That's big stuff.
I mean even Nicholas Hoult — Jen's divinely dishy ex-boyfriend — can't help but love her and they recently rekindled their romance, confirming it only this week.
But I will tell you what I don't love about Jennifer. I don't love her as a model. She is quite obviously an amazing actress. She is very clearly a fabulous person in real life. She is fun and pretty and has a banging bod. And despite all that, put her in front of a stills camera in some fancy garb and she goes all claw-hands and gives weird face. TERRIBLE.
Also, I don't love her hair here. We have an ongoing issue with Jen's hair. It's tricky when she has stringy bangs — just like it is for us — and so I prefer it fringe clipped back or grown out, in a bob or casually in a pony tail. It just alleviates the issue. Here she looks like some strange suburban housewife with this hair. No man! Sis
Not even the incredible talents of photographer Mario Testino can save these pictures, in my view. In fact not even cute puppies can save these pictures from being awkward and strange and just a tiny bit disturbing. You know it has to be bad then. I mean, puppies!
It's a good thing that the clothes are awesome, so we can at least look at those with some happiness. Outfits from Rochas, Dolce and Gabbana, Prada, Louis Vuitton and Ralph Lauren all try and emphasise the all-American girl super-actress that everyone loves. But not even they can save it. Sad.
