She is a model of the moment, this 21-year-old British girl, Suki Waterhouse. She has the awesome name. She is dating MUCH older movie star Bradley Cooper. She is off-beat and slightly unpredictable and very fresh. And so of course the fashion world has fallen for her. I, however, have never got it.

And then I saw this shoot for sass and bide, the Australian fashion label. They employed Suki to star in the shoot — and style it herself, as an expression of her personal style. Of course she loved that. Who wouldn't? But it appears that I love it too.

They took it even further than just the modelling and the styling. They allowed Suki to illustrate it too. And make it an authentic expression of her real life, personality and attitude.

The photographer was Andrew de Francesco, but it really feels like he was just the conduit and Suki the real creative powerhouse behind these images.

I don't know why I like it so much, why I respond to it. But I really do and I am impressed that this quite ordinary looking — and totally over-hyped — young girl can actually do the real business. Amazing.
