For some reason known only to the gods of fashion, the red carpet of the 2013 Primetime Emmy Awards really did not tolerate colour. It felt all wrong. Usually we celebrate a splash of a vibrant hue, but last night it just looked out of sorts and like a bit of a mistake. Weird but true. the best dressed ladies all wore their paleness and won out in the end. The colour risk takers sadly failed. The yellow overwhelmed Anna Faris and made her look cheap. The amazing Allison Janney looked like she was wearing a dress meant for someone significantly younger than she in hot pink Lorena Sarbu. The Oscar de la Renta that Jessica Pare wore could have been great but the bust drooped so very frighteningly. And I really did think that Sarah Hyland looked dreadful despite the incredible Carolina Herrera dress. What was she thinking with that hair and make-up. TOO OLD. Oh dear.
