Candice Swanepoel for US Vogue October 2012
On Saturday the lovely South African supermodel, Candice Swanepoel, tweeted, "My first only girl story in Vogue US...excited." By which she meant that for the first time ever she got booked for a fashion editorial story in the American version of Vogue magazine where she was the only model in the whole story. She had to carry it alone.
Pah! More than capable, I said. I mean, this is Candice. One of the most successful models to cross over from swimwear/lingerie to high fashion since Giselle.
The story is called Peak Viewing — which from what I can understand is a handbags, boots and hats story for fall 2012. But it seems to me just an excuse to put Candice into fabulous designer togs and shoot her high up above Los Angeles.
The story was shot by Alex Prager and styled by Elissa Santisi for US Vogue.
Candice is wearing all sorts of wonderful goodies including the red wide-leg Celine trousers, the Prada print suit, the Reed Krakoff red dress and coat — cinched with a Givenchy belt - the Stephen Jones hat and YSL dress, and those Gucci boots. That's all. Those boots. The end. Brilliant.
