In South Africa, there are very few independent professional fashion buyers. Generally buyers in this country are attached to large retailers, where buying is a compromise game. There are a few buyers who have emerged from retailers and moved to online retailers, but only a handful that are genuine independents, buying from local designers. One of the best of these owns and runs Purr in the Lifestyle Centre on Kloof Street. And if you are in any way keen on gaining some amazing experience from the best for the next couple of years, here are two retail positions available at the store right now.
Full time person:
Purr are urgently looking for a capable young lady to manage a high end clothing boutique. You must be trustworthy, highly reliable, very organised and tidy. You must have a strong interest in fashion, along with creative flair. You must be confident (especially in sales) and able to communicate with women of various ages. Apart from being client orientated, it is essential that you are a team player and can interact well with other members of staff. The working hours are: Monday to Friday: 09h30-18h30, Saturday: 09h30-15h30 and Public holidays: 10h00-14h00 unless otherwise agreed. You will have at least one Saturday off in a month. We are looking for someone who plans to stay with the company for a year or longer.
Part time person:
We are looking for a fellow fashion enthusiast who can easily travel to Lifestyles on Kloof, to join our sales team. We need someone who can work 4 hour shifts every week day between 10h30 and 16h30 and one 5 1/2 hour shift from 13h00 until 18h30 if the full time person has an afternoon off. In addition, working 2 out of 3 Saturdays from 09h30-15h30 are also required. You must be well presented, have a bubbly personality and plan to stay with us for a year or longer. As you will be required to fit sample ranges as part of your regular duties, you must be a size 32 or 34 in clothing.
