The actress Kerry Washington — currently starring in The Fixer/Scandal — has been quite a revelation to me. Watching her performances reveals something about her that I never expected. I thought she could do sweet, chic, sassy, pretty, kind and plenty of other very lovely adjectives. What I never expected was that she could do moral ambiguity, backbone of steel, rapid-fire, head-exploding, lip-quivering, total destruction dialogue. But boy can she.
Kerry can also do style. Usually sticking to more mainstream designers, she wore a more edgy steel-coloured dress from Carven this week. She paired it with a red patent bag from Kate Spade and shoes from Jimmy Choo.
Earlier this week, Kerry was photographed in a Gucci tunic that takes its cues from the mod 60s era. Just amplified enormously in textured snake skin. And wore shoes and hair that looked like sex. In that really good way that is both familiar and yet takes you completely by surprise. Amazing. Love her.
