Marc Jacobs' Last Campaign for Louis Vuitton: His Muses
Marc Jacobs recently announced his departure from Louis Vuitton, as he works out his notice, he is bowing out with the most gorgeous form of sentimentality and beauty. Here is his last campaign, which is literally a testament to his muses — those amazing women who have inspired him during his time at the LV label. Especially Sofia Coppola of course.
These gorgeous portraits of ladies were shot by Steven Meisel and are truly magnificent, especially since many of them reveal a more vulnerable, emotional view of the women in them. We all know these women are strong and successful, but when you see that raw emotion on Giselle Bundchen's face, you know that this is something you haven't quite glimpsed before. I think it is staggering.
The whole Mona Lisa enigma is present across almost all the women's faces, you are not quite sure what they are thinking or feeling, but it is definitely unfamiliar. Especially when you consider how many years we have seen images of Catherine Deneuve — both still and moving — and yet there is still something here that is new.
The six-some is rounded out by Asian breakthrough star Fan Bingbing, edgy model Edie Campbell and French singer Caroline de Maigret. Each of the photos showcases one of the bucket-style Noe bags from Louis Vuitton and the garments are from Marc Jacobs' last collection for the lable, SS14. And all the faces were painted by Pat McGrath, who is the master really.
